Introduction I have chosen to investigate the influence that social media marketing has on the events industry, through the use of popular social media sites and the growing trend of social ambassadors as influencers. Social media has now become the norm for businesses in every industry with businesses recognising the power that social media has over consumers. This particular topic appealed to me as I have grown up alongside the evolution of social media and have used it for both personal and business interactions. To assist my research and investigation I will be using book, journals and articles that relate to social media. This research will provide a deeper understanding into effectiveness of social media marketing and the evolution of blogs and social ambassadors. The research will also provide a wider insight into how influential social ambassadors can be on the consumer. I will firstly start with social media and how this is now the prefered marketing tool for businesses. Studies have showed that social media is now the prefered marketing tool among businesses nowadays as it allows businesses to build a client base and interact with consumers. In a 2015 study carried out by the social media examiner it was found that only 45% of marketers found that their own efforts of facebook marketing were working. ( Stelzner, 2015) Businesses use social media to increase exposure to the business and to gain loyal consumers. There are over 3.5billion word of mouth conversations occurring around the world each day , about two thirds of these are thought to make reference to the fashion, service or product industry (ahlberg,2010,Evans 2008). Companies who take advantage of social side of the web to market and engage with their target consumers generally see the benefits. It allows for a personal connection with potential and existing customers to help in creating long term brand loyalty. Even if Even if you think social media is not suited to your business or that you don't have the time, simply logging on to see what your competitors are doing in this space, or finding out what your customers are saying about you might be a valuable exercise.
