When walking into a doctor’s office or a hospital the first thing that most people think of is what doctor will be seeing me today. With that being said, in many cases the patient will not be seeing their doctor/ physician at all. When you enter into your doctor’s office for a certain reason such as strep throat, you are more then likely going to be seeing your nurse practitioner that day, not your doctor. A Nurse Practitioner plays a very critical and crucial role at either a clinic or a hospital when providing care. Nurse practitioners are also present in a everyday hospital scene seeing patients. We saw many different things come through in a day. Things such as ADD, asthma, diabetes, and also ear infections in children almost every single day. The most common illness that I encountered while I was with Margo was strep throat, not only in children but also in adults. Strep throat is a bacterial infection that is in the throat and also in the tonsils.
