The Department for Education analyzed the behavior in such way,” There is violence and assault in our schools. NASUWT have estimated that there is one assault (verbal or physical) every seven minutes. A recent poll by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) found that 38.6% of respondents had dealt with physical aggression that academic year. Most reported incidents (87%) involved violence towards another pupil, more than a quarter involved violence against the respondent, with 44% of incidents involving another teacher or a member of support Staff” (Ev 167). There are also wraparound services that are knows as tertiary strategies that are applied to 7% of the pupils who have chronic problems. Firstly, police, ambulance, school staff should be trained of all the behavior grounds. These appropriate reactions on all violent actions can prevent from incidents that happen at schools. The problems of teachers are that they don’t focus on actions that can stop incidents; they try to find out what makes pupils do so. “In brief, behavior serves one of two main functions: (1) to obtain (positive reinforcement) or (2) avoid (negative reinforcement) attention, activities or tasks, or tangible or sensory conditions”(Umbreit et al., 2007).Here I refer to the words that say,” Teachers need to deliver the consequences – which need to be appropriate to the magnitude of the infraction – easily, without unnecessary interruption of instructional activities (Lane, Menzies, Bruhn, & Crnobori,…show more content…
Teachers are supposed to be informed about potential violent acts in the classes they hold, and practice the main methods of solving them. When pupils feel belonged to their schools and classes, they become more engaged in school affairs and education. “School belonging has been linked with positive academic and behavioral outcomes (e.g., Anderman, 2002) and fewer negative psychological symptoms” (e.g., McMahon, Parnes, Keys, & Viola, 2008). The Education and Inspections Act of 2006 encourages promoting the responsibility of the school policies to “ensure that policies designed to promote good behavior and discipline on the part of its pupils are pursued at the school” (HMCI Annual Report 2009–10, p32). In conclusion I want to say the problem of violence is school is a very serious issue. This problem should be immediately viewed by police and parents.
