Introduction The aim of this research is to identify the motivational practices that take place in small businesses to improve their employee’s performance and the relation between motivation and employee performance. Motivation plays a very big role in small businesses to succeed because it is a small business and the employees need motivation to lead the business to higher standards. It is considered that when small businesses know how to invest and use their resources have the ability to develop quicker. The objectives of this proposal are; to identify the motivational practices being employed to improve performance within small businesses in Dubai and to examine the relation between motivation and employee performance. Small businesses owners need to pay attention to how motivated and satisfied their employees are which will help improve their performance and the businesses as a whole. Aims • Identify the best possible technique of motivation in small businesses in Dubai which improves performance. Employees will stay working for salary, but most of the time only for salary employees cannot keep working in a business. Employees need motivational practices to keep them going in their workplace, and make the workplace better and satisfying for them which will result in improved performance from the employee and also help the small business to grow successfully. If no motivation practices are being employed, than the output from the employees are any other work done by them will have no effect on the business
