When dealing with anxiety, there are many different treatment options available. One of these options is therapy. There are also many different types of therapies to choose from! Two of these types of therapy are Group therapy and Family therapy. So, which of these therapies is the best option? One way to decide which type of therapy is better for the client is to look at the similarities and differences between the two. But first, what are Group and Family therapies, and what are their benefits and limitations? One type of therapy that can be used as a treatment for anxiety is Group therapy. Group therapy consists of the therapist and multiple clients. There is usually one to several sessions of this therapy per week, depending on the needs and preferences of the group. One possible benefit is that it could help family members better understand what the client is dealing with. Another benefit is that it could help the family get a better understanding of each other's views. Having a better understanding of each other could bring forth better support from the family! Though there are some benefits, there are also some possible limitations to Family therapy. One possible limitation is that the client may not be comfortable speaking to a group of people, even if that group is only a few family members. Another possible limitation is that the client may feel anxious to completely open up to their family. The client may not want their family to completely know how they are feeling.
