Before the youth arrive at the center I give the center a walk through to ensure it is safe for occupancy. This is done to make sure the youth have a safe environment that they can enjoy injury free. 2. Once a month I check the fire extinguishers to make sure they are still within the required safety code. The reason this is done is to have emergency equipment ready in the unlikely event we will need to use it. 3. Daily I walk through the center and make sure the fire exit route are clearly visible and fire exits are not blocked. This is done to ensure that in case of evacuation youth will be able to calmly and efficiently leave the building. Health The candidate promotes good health and nutrition and provides an environment that contributes to the prevention of illness 1. Before every meal I remind and encourage youth to practice the proper hand washing procedure. This is done because hand washing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of diseases and other germs. 2. Youth are encouraged to clean up after themselves after eating. This is done to help youth develop healthy habits and to lower the spread of disease. 3. I have completed mental health first aid training. This training has given me the tools and the knowledge to look for warning signs and to help youth that are mentally stressed and possibly thinking of suicide.
