"In other news... THE DEAD WALK THE EARTH!" Said the town crier. Directed by Tim Burton, Corpse Bride is unique, imaginative, and emotionally bittersweet. Corpse Bride, a stop-motion-animated movie with imaginative characters, inspired music, and actors who truly bring life into the character, is a must see movie that is entertaining for all. After Victor's and Victoria's parents arrange their marriage, Victor finds himself nervous about the wedding and constantly messes up his vows. He later goes into the woods to practice his vows and soon finds himself married to a corpse bride named Emily in the land of the dead. Emily was murdered by her previous love and now she wants to marry Victor. Victor now has to find a way to get back above ground…show more content…
Emily chases after Victor, believing that he was speaking to her, to marry him after he spoke his vows where she laid buried in the ground. Once she is married to Victor, she tries to play out the role of the wife, knowing that Victor is uncomfortable with the situation but wants to believe that he only asked her to be his wife. She gets jealous when she finds out that Victor is in love with someone that is not her, and gets upset when Victor tells her that is was a mistake that they were married. Both Victor and Emily grew to understand one another, and when Victor was ready to throw his life away to be with her, she gave him up and protected him when Lord Barkis and Victor began to fight over Victoria. Emily's character developed and matured throughout the movie, beginning from a longing bride to one who loves her husband but will give him up to make him happy. Helena Bonham Carter, truly executes her role as Emily, giving her life as the longing, would-be bride who wishes to be married. The scene where Emily and Victor return from the land of the living, Helena really brings out that emotion of the upset wife who found out she has been betrayed by her husband and it was executed really well in the movie. Johnny Depp also did a fantastic job in executing his role as Victor Van Dort and gave him life as an awkward and shy man, who likes someone else but finds himself married to a corpse. In the scene where Victor is practicing his vows, Depp brought out Victor's feelings of regret for being unable to follow through with rehearsal without messing everything up and embarrassing himself in front of Victoria's parents. He executed it really well and that feeling was very clear in the scene. Joanna Lumley who acts as Mrs. Everglot, Victoria's mother in the movie, also really executed her role well as the woman who believes that she is above everyone else. During the scene where Mr. And Mrs. Everglot is singing together before Victor and his parents arrive, Lumley really made Mrs. Everglot seem conceited and it was very clear about where the character stood in the movie. The voice actors are truly the bloodline of the film, they brought their characters to life and executed their roles well to bring out each individual person and made them stand out in
