It is the awakening of the intellect to the study of itself. Critical thinking varies according to the motivation underlying it, when grounded in selfish motives; it is often manifested in the skillful manipulation of ideas in service of one’s own interests. No one could catch up to him. His most important contribution came in the final minute, when I spotted him making a run down the wing. I knew if I could just get the ball to him, he would easily beat the defender and have a chance of scoring. I managed to do just that and so did he. Before the opposition knew it, he was 1 on 1 with their goalkeeper who brought him down. In a split second the referee blew his whistle and signaled for a Penalty kick. I suddenly remembered that he had a bandaged right knee so diving to his right would be more difficult for him. In that moment I had decided I was going to go low to his right. I waited for the referee to blow his whistle and hit the ball as hard as I could to the right. The keeper dove the same side but couldn’t reach the ball. That was it we’d drawn the match but won on aggregate.
