Personal Narrative: A Hero's Journey

Joseph Campbell was a mythologist who came up with the idea of Hero’s Journey. A Hero’s Journey is the same as a life’s journey. Everyone has a Hero’s Journey, think of every Disney movie you have ever seen, they all follow the lines of Hero’s Journey. I don’t think of myself as a hero, but even I have gone on a special journey. I am glad that I went on it because I conquered my fear of the woods and gained a new hobby. In fact, after my journey Ioved the woods and I learned not to be scared of them.My life’s journey as an explorer/adventurer is similar to Joseph Campbell’s because I have gone out of my ordinary world, crossed to a new world, and I have got my reward. When I was a little girl, I was scared of the woods, but I was going to get over that fear. One day I was standing at the window in my house looking outside at the woods and I decided that I didn’t want to be scared anymore. I was a little hesitant at first because they seemed really scary to me, but I was going to do it. My older sister was my mentor, she told me that it would be okay ( since i was going to be on a trail ) so I decided that I would do it. I put on gloves, a coat, rubber rain boots and set out for my adventure.…show more content…
At first I thought it might be my imagination or maybe even a squirrel, but I was wrong. It was a skunk, about seven feet away, and I was sure that it was looking straight at me. I immediately froze and thought of my options, I could run away screaming or i could back away slowly. While my first option seemed very appealing, I decided to just try and back away slowly hoping that it would just go away. When I far enough from the skunk that it’s spray wouldn’t be able to reach me I just stopped. It eventually ran away and I was started on my journey again. This time being more
