Roanoke was a lost colony in the 1590s. This colony was governed by a man that went by the name of John White. The colonists arrived in Roanoke during 1587. The first group that arrived came to explore the land for future purposes in 1584. The second group arrived in 1585 and came for military purposes and missions to find out more scientific things about this “New World.” John White, the governor of Roanoke, drew a map of the colonies and geographical knowledge. John White, an artist and cartographer, accompanied the voyage from England to the Outer Banks of North Carolina under a plan of Sir Walter Raleigh to settle Virginia.
