I have grown up in an environment that to some may seem extreme. My mother left me at the age of one and my father raised me as a single parent. By the time I was tall enough to reach the kitchen counter tops, I was cooking my own meals and making my own school lunches. On my first week of kindergarten, I walked to school alone and did my homework independently from there on out. My upbringing made me self-reliant and independent. My dad worked overtime to pay the bills, therefore I was with my grandmother quite a lot. My grandmother showed me personal ethics by bringing me to church and allowing me to help provide food and toiletries for the homeless.
