An Outlook into a Medical Assisting Career Choosing the right career can be challenging, however, as a Medical Assistant (MA) you will appreciate a rewarding career working in a variety of healthcare settings, such as, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and long-term healthcare facilities or even at a physician’s office. There are many benefits to seeking a career in Medical Assisting, for example, the ability to develop a rapport with patients. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistic, MA’s are in high demand and employment is expected to grow by 29 percent by 2022. Education I choose to pursue an education for Medical Assisting at ECPI, in which, I could graduate in 14 months with an Associates in Applied Science, majoring in Medical Assistance.…show more content…
A CMA is one who has received a certification through the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), in which, the CMA (AAMA) has been tested on a wide scope of general, administrative and clinical responsibilities as defined in the Occupational Analysis of the CMA (AAMA). Being certified shows employers that not only did ECPI teach me the necessary skills to be successful but that I was able to retain that information. At ECPI, they offer many certifications with their Medical Assistant program that one could obtain, such as, certified Medical Assistance, EKG, Phlebotomy, and Medical Billing and Coding and I plan on earning every one of them certifications. On the other hand, looking at my major at ECPI I realized that there are numerous of job titles that could fall under a degree in Medical Assisting, for instance, CMA, Medical Office Manager, EKG Technician, Certified Medical Billing and Coding and a…show more content…
The first website I located is HealthcareJobSite.com, this website is a place, in which, you could search for new job opportunities, network with health care employers, manage your career and gain access to relevant career resources and some great invaluable tools. The second website I located is iHireNursing.com, which is basically a one-stop nursing job board that provides excellent tools so that one could progress in their career path. The third website that I located is LinkedIn, this website is where you can create an online career portfolio, stay in touch with colleagues and classmates, discover new professional opportunities and network with like-minded career professionals. Also during my research I also was able to locate two helpful websites that offer help in resume preparation. One of the website is ResumeGenius.com, on this website they offer HR-approved professional resume templates that are easy to use and that can be created in 15 minutes or less for free. The other website is ResumeHelp.com, this website also offered professional resume template, they actually have thousands of resume examples that one could choose from. ResumeHelp.com also offers pre-written resume examples, step by step guidance and tips on how to create a successful resume that could impress many
