“Beowulf, Higlac’s follower and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world” is a brief description of the main character in the story of Beowulf. The author of this story happens to be unknown. King Hrothgar, Grendel, Unferth, a dragon, Grendel’s mother, Wiglaf and of course, Beowulf, happen to be the main characters of this story. Beowulf, is basically about the main soldier of a place called Higlac, he is considered to be the most strongest, loyal, brave hero to have ever lived. Throughout the story he saves the kingdom of King Hrothgar from 12 years of being terrorized by a monster named Grendel who is feared by everyone, Grendel’s mother is killed by beowulf later on in the story when seeking revenge. In addition he also has a few arguments with Unferth who tries to offend Beowulf because he is jealous of him. Later on, Beowulf becomes king of his homeland and slays a dragon with help of his best warrior, Wiglaf before dying, he was deeply loved by everyone for being a good king and hero. This story is full of wise themes but helping those in need, loyalty, and being brave are the main themes of this story.…show more content…
The author is talking about how Beowulf has found out about Grendel tormenting the kingdom of Hrothgar and so he is ready to leave his home of Higlac to go help the danes. The author says, “And quickly commanded a boat fitted out, proclaiming that he’d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to Hrothgar, now when help was needed.” this proves my thesis because it’s taking place in Higlac while Beowulf is preparing to set sail with his best soldiers. The general mood seems to be determination to go and help the people suffering from Beowulf’s torment which again proves that a huge theme of this story is helping those in
