Mme. Loisel, a character in ‘The Necklace” by Guy de Maupassant, is dishonest and jealous. First off, she is a dishonest woman. One event from the story that showed her dishonesty was when she lied about losing the necklace. On page 32, Maupassant writes “Instead of being truthful with her friend,…” This demonstrates her dishonesty with her longtime friend. Second off, she’s dishonest because she decides to replace it, another event from the story on page 32, when they decide to replace the necklace. He writes that “Mme. Loisel decides t replace the necklace…” this also demonstrates her dishonesty because if she would’ve come clean, she would not be in poverty. Mme. Loisel is also jealous. She wishes she was rich, she envied other rich girls.
