ART AND SCIENCE OF STORYTELLING INTRODUCTION Communication and capability to deliver messages to influence are one of the key components for a leader at this time. Modern life is full of communications and the number of the messages has been increasing during the last 30 years. We are living in the middle of information overflow and being bombarded by the messages. For the leaders, the importance to interact in a way that message gets attention and makes an impact is more important than ever. BACKGROUND FROM RESEARCH AND READINGS In communications, the efficiency of the message delivery is highly dependent on selected methodology to deliver messages. If you are a high-level expert the research shows that it is possible to have trust and credibility in the wider community, but if you are a lower level communicator it is extremely difficult to build a trust needed to deliver the message for stakeholders that represent a higher level of authority. For example, doctors to doctor communication can be done and in general, they will trust the communicator because that is one of the peers. But if some external non-medical background communicator e.g. ICT expert is trying to communicate the doctors the trust is not easy to gain. We even saw some examples of this during the residency when we were talking about how digitalisation might make some doctors not needed because their job can be automated. The doctor among our class was very consistent that this can’t be done and digitalisation can’t replace the doctor's work. COUNTER ARGUMENT With the rise of social media and internet, almost everyone can communicate globally and be great storytellers. That makes even more important to have media reading literacy and skills to check the sources of the messages and communicators. CONCLUSION Leadership communications is a critical skill that needs to be understood and practised if we want to make sure that we have the skills needed well when delivering the message. In some communications situations, you can have a plan and you should have a plan, but in that the key components are that you build a trust and act in line with your true values. Communication is a key part of being a leader. During the course, we got the number of examples what is a difference when you are communicating well and not.
