IELTS is an abbreviation for International English Language Testing System. It is a world proven English language test for the last 25 years. The test is mainly taken for two purposes:-Study Abroad and Immigration. It tests the basic English knowledge of the candidate and scores them bands ranging from 0 to 9.There are approximately 1,100 test centers of IELTS in more than 140 countries. There are four modules in IELTS test:-Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. The first three modules takes place on a single day while speaking is held on a different date. This module tests the ability of students on the basis of understanding and analyzing information by eliminating unimportant details and focusing on the required answer. The duration of this module is one hour (60 minutes) with 40 questions. One mark is provided for each correct answer. IELTS ACADEMIC READING – It consists of three comprehension passages of word length 2000 to 2750. The passages are mainly from journals, books and magazines. Candidates have to go through the passages to answer specific type of questions. The candidates are expected to write at least 150 words for this task. IELTS WRITING TASK2- ESSAY WRITING – The minimum number of words required for this task is 250. The candidate is supposed to present a written argument or description for the topic provided. GENERAL Writing LETTER WRITING- TASK 1 – The candidates are given a situation and response should be in form of letter. There are mainly three types of letters asked in IELTS writing that may be formal, semi-formal or informal. ESSAY WRITING- TASK 2 – This is very similar to Academic task 2 but instead the topic is more personal in style.
