First of all, Canadian publishers are allowed to import and distribute titles published abroad and these title are protected by copyright. However, for retailers who want to import titles from others source will find themselves in court, because they do not concern about the copyright Act. Moreover, in recent years, there have been changed in regulations, and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations have met to reject the importing rules. It seems that repeal copyright Act will decrease the costs for students, on the other hand, this may affect the revenue of both authors and book publisher. In addition, the author says that the publishers disagree about private tariff, because they want to emphasize a maximum amount that can protect retailers and consumers from suppliers. As well, some students try to get their textbooks from other countries by cheap price compare to their own country. Furthermore, in terms of illegal trade of course materials, publishers are replacing their ways. However; students would like to downloads for tables and e-readers, so that student can avoid carry the heavy textbooks and also it is cheaper.
