Food science technicians are people working in food industry and who look after food production activities. Their primary job is to ensure that food is produced in safe manner and is of utmost quality. Income • Starting salaries for food scientists and technologists can be between £20,000 and £25,000 a year • With experience and increased responsibilities, this can rise to between £30,000 and £45,000. Source: Entry requirements To become a food science technician, you need to acquire a BTEC HNC/HND or degree in a subject such related to food science, nutrition or food technology. You need one or two A levels or equivalent to get into HNC/HND. To be eligible to get into a degree course you must possess five GCSEs and two or three A levels in science subjects. If you possess a degree in a non-related discipline, you must consider taking a postgraduate study in subjects like food safety, nutrition, and health or food quality management.
