Development described as a social condition within a nation in which the reliable needs of its population are satisfied by the rational and sustainable use of natural resources and systems. Meanwhile, Human development defined “as the process of enlarging people’s freedoms and opportunities and improving their well-being. Human development is about the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who to be, what to do, and how to live” . Economic growth is basically defined as an increase of wealth of a nation over time. Although, economic growth and development are closely intertwined, the economic growth is but a step in the direction towards development – one of prime significance, indeed a precondition to it, but by no means can it be conceptualized as development itself. For a country to be generally recognized as a developed one, it also needs to be able to provide its citizens with as fair as it is possible a distribution of basic resources and social amenities, such as healthcare and education. In this essay I will link between economic growth and human development, focusing in economic growth and it’s necessary for human development and I will take China as an example. The Chinese economy in 1978 was generally pictured as "on the brink of disaster" due to its various differences as well as problems of low productivity growth and poor incentives. The major differences included an emphasis on capital construction and abandonment of agriculture and light industry, emphasis on production and neglect of people's livelihood, emphasis on production and neglect of distribution, and emphasis on high accumulation and neglect of efficiency and consumption. These differences caused high urban unemployment, widespread rural poverty and slow productivity growth
