Being a student athlete and taking advanced placement classes can be pretty stressful. It all begins with time management, communication, dedication, and responsibility. Having to take your mind off your favorite sport and focus on your education is difficult. I play softball and I know that my education is more important than my sport, but I tend to keep softball on my mind 24/7 and put my education to the side. Being able to juggle these two things makes you a great student and an astounding person all around. Time management is when you use your time wisely and not waste it. Using a planner, setting alarms, and making to-do lists can help with this. I use a planner every day to write down what assignments I need to do for homework, what games I have during the week, and when I have tests. Softball is a huge part of my life and I like to think it overrules everything. Playing a sport and having two difficult AP classes is sometimes hard to juggle. Everyone is responsible for themselves, their homework, and their place on the team. If you cannot keep your grades, you have to sit out of games until you bring them up. This brings down the team and the coaches lose trust in you. You are responsible for turning everything in on time, studying for tests and quizzes, and getting absent work from your teachers. I make sure to email my teachers after I have missed a class to make sure I know what I am doing. It is my responsibility to make sure I am the one doing these things and my teacher is not having to remind me and my coaches are not having to get onto me about my grades. Teachers and coaches expect you do be independent and trust you to be able to take care of yourself. They can only help a student or player so much. Students need to be responsible for their own things and should not have to rely on others to do things for
