Furthermore, the PCM role is at the center of calling programs, as they run the phone programs onsite for clients - working on strategy and implementation, the hiring and training of all the employees. The PCM position, despite little direct supervision due to being in a remote position and working within a virtual team, there is still a lot of oversight and standardization in the tasks that the PCM performs. This standardization is realized in the top-down job design, having such dense training along with streamlined reporting options and job duties. The types of feedback and their frequency should be continuous and reliable and not intermittent to provide the best results. It could vary by who the manager of a PCM is, but unless deadlines are closely followed by senior level executives it seems as though not all feedback is given at their prescribed times. There is also evidence that the self-evaluations create polarized views of performance, as some employees may be overconfident in their abilities when filling them out or insecure in their abilities and could be more harsh, leading to a self-biased evaluation. The most effective forms of feedback come from timely evaluations of work with concrete references to the work being critiqued.
