Cinderella is one of the most known fairytales around the world. There is a Cinderella story in almost every culture. Some may think Disney’s version of Cinderella is the original version but that is not true. Charles Perrault from France was the original author of Cinderella in 1697. Because of Perrault’s version of the story, there has been many stories told each unique in its own way. Some are more romantic and there are some that are more evil. For instance, the German version is much more evil than the French. The German version was written by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1812. Even though Cinderella faced different obstacles and there was a different outcome for her sisters, she still married the prince in both the French and German versions.…show more content…
In the French version of Cinderella, she scoured the dishes, tables, etc., and cleaned madam’s chamber” (Perrault). In the German version she did harder work such as carry water, make the fires, cook, and wash. But after they did their chores, they went for a dress from their grandmother to go to the ball that she was so excited about. In the French version the godmother was a fairy, while in the German version the godmother was a bird. The godmother had magical powers in both stories. The birds helped her in many ways and was the reason she married the prince. Cinderella asked for favors by a tree she planted by her mother’s grave. Even though both had many obstacles to face, they were different. Cinderella’s hard work led to a great outcome but the two stories ended
