Examples of cyber bullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles. Cyber bullying is a form of bullying that has been taking place all over the world because of the development of technology and increased usage of social media networks. Something that has not really been established properly is the punishments and sanctions. It is now well known that with the existence of fake profiles or profiles with hidden identities, the guilty party is hard to be traced. Lawmakers passed new legislations on cyber-bullying because it seems that there are currently no specific laws that deal directly with it. They want to address cyber-bullying with laws that would call the action of intimidation, bullying or any other actions that cause severe emotional distress illegal. Last time, I’ve read an international article news on the internet about a girl who was bullied online. The violator who has happened to be her schoolmate posted different negative comments including death threats on her Facebook account. The violator was arrested and was put into jail but the sad thing about it is that she doesn’t have any idea about their existing law about cyber bullying. She is not aware about the punishments of cyber bullying. What she knows is that cyber bullying is just a simple thing and no one cares about it. Personally, I felt very sad to the victim because of all the negative comments and death threats she received from the violator. But at the same time, it’s also heartbreaking to know that the violator was put into jail without knowing the existing law in their countries. Laws about cyber bullying is an effective way of preventing cyber bullying but it would not be as effective as it should be if people don’t know anything about
