Along with being a high school athletic trainer, Jacob teaches sports medicine one and two at Hanover High School. His success and job opportunities come from an advanced education. Jacob Pack attended Roanoke University for undergrad school and University of Florida for a graduate degree. This interview has given me a new perspective of the athletic training field and how overwhelming this career area can be. I learned athletic trainers closely observe every movement an athlete makes, especially on the field during games. Also, the amount of hours that is put into this job altered my expectation of the career field. I think this job is very demanding and harsh on the body and mind due the stress. To be successful in this career area you have to be committed. Overall, I appreciate this career field and how it helps athletes. Not only do athletic trainers treat and rehabilitate injuries, they provide support and encouragement to the athletes. I learned with the advancement of technology there is always something new to learn and how to prevent or treat injuries. Athletic training is a hands on job and leads to close relationships with the coaches and athletes. I do think this career field would suit me due to the the drive I have for working with athletes and wanting to help them return to play. I feel I could communicate well and simply inform how to rehabilitate an injury to return back to play. It wouldn’t be easy choosing this career path due to the amount of hours it requires but I would be committed to the work load
