The atomic bomb being dropped on Japan is a very controversial topic. many people believed it was a harsh decision on the US's part. On the other hand, even more believe it was necessary to do it. Another effect was the recolonization of war. The pros and cons are very high. In my opinion the use of the atomic bomb was necessary for the US to use. It helped the war end faster along with fewer US casualties. Many people were upset with the thousands of Japanese citizens that died, however
On August 6, 1945, the first atomic bomb was dropped by the United States in the city of Hiroshima, Japan (population of approximately 284,000 and 43,000 soldiers), instantly vaporizing and killing some 70,000 people instantly. Three days later, on August 9, a second atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki (population of approximately 195,000 citizens), where roughly 35,600 people were immediately killed by the blast, flames, and collapsing buildings, all according to the Encyclopedia of
not the use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was morally acceptable. There is evidence that creates arguments for both sides. To fully understand whether the dropping of the atomic bombs was morally correct, it is important to look at the events that led up to dropping the bombs as well as the events after. I believe that it was morally correct to drop the first atomic bomb, Little Boy, on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945; I do not believe that dropping the second atomic bomb, Fat Man, on Nagasaki
Truman to use atomic weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was no different. Did the U.S. absolutely need to engage in nuclear warfare? Was it morally right to bomb civilians? Did the U.S. ignore jus in bello? The use of atomic weapons on
The two atomic bombs the United States of America dropped, one on August 6th, 1945 and then, three days later ;the other on August 9th, 1945 destroyed what was left of the Japanese attack. What we did was questionable for some, but in the end we knew it would save American soldier lives, tens of thousands maybe. American lives are worth a hell of a lot more than Jap lives so killing hundreds of thousands of those pukes was the right decision. The atomic bombs the United States of America dropped
conducted numerous atomic bomb tests on several small atolls in the Pacific (Coakley, pg. 523). A site could’ve easily been prepared in 1945. If representatives of the Japanese government and or military, could have seen the bomb, it might have been enough to convince them to surrender. If it did not work, the U.S. would state that they tried to warn the Japanese, and some justification would having been given. However, if the Japanese had agreed to a demonstration and the bomb didn’t work, it could’ve
The atomic bomb, one of the most toxic and fatal weapons ever invented, was dropped on Hiroshima on the 6th of August 1945, and then again on Nagasaki three days later. It was dropped by the Americans who were against the Japanese in World War II. Although it ended the war I still believe the Americans should not have dropped the bomb. At least not when they did. The Americans chose to drop the bomb so that they could end the war and save up to one million American soldiers’ lives. “We have used
discovered that uranium produced radiation, and nuclear fission was finally discovered in 1938 by Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann1. Because of this, and Albert Einstein's equation (E=MC²), people were able to make the first atomic bomb. In 1945, Hiroshima was destroyed with one of these bombs, which only contained a ball of uranium the size of a basketball. After WWll, scientists thought of how to utilize uranium and made the first ever nuclear reactor in 1950. They decided to store all of the waste beneath
