Ahhh!! Weeeeee!! Whooooo!! This could only be the sound of children all over the nation screaming while riding one of Disney’s rides at Disneyland. All through the years, Walter Elias Disney made favorable cartoons. Along the way, he made Mickey Mouse, which is mostly everyone’s favorite character. Walt Disney Productions is one of the major entertainment businesses. Walt Disney was known as the greatest American producer and cartoonist, producing films and creating characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Dumbo. Walt Disney changed the world by making film productions and inspiring children. He also created Disneyland for children to enjoy and have fun. Disney Brothers produced three cartoons featuring a new character Walt had created. It was called Mickey Mouse. The first animated shorts featuring Mickey Mouse were Plane Crazy and the Gallopin' Gaucho. Disney created a third with sound and music called Steamboat Willie. Walt was the voice of Mickey. The cartoon was an instant sensation. In 1929, Disney created Silly Symphonies featuring namely, Mickey’s newly created friends, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. The most popular cartoons were “Flowers and Trees”. It was the first to be produced. Also, the film called Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf became a theme for the country during the Great Depression. On December 21, 1937, Walt created Snow White & Seven Dwarfs. It was the first full length animated film which premiered in Los Angeles, it produced $1,499 million. After Disney’s death, his brother Roy returned from retirement to take full control of Walt Disney’s productions. October 1971, families of Walt & Roy met in front of Cinderella’s castle. He gave a speech about the park’s dedication. EPCOT was translated by Disney’s successors into EPCOT center. Disney characters can now be found throughout the park. The Walt Disney company owns five vacation resorts. Walt Disney owns eleven theme parks, two water parks, and thirty-nine hotels. Also owns eight motion picture studios, six record labels, eleven cable T.V. networks, one relating to Earth T.V. network. In 2007, the company had annual revenues of over $35 billion. Walt was a pioneer in character animation, and he was one of the first people to move animation away from basic cartoons with just “impossible outlandish gags” and drawn out characters. Personality was displayed in the characters of his films. He led to the company’s controversial decision to close the animation department. When Disney died, 1/4 of his estate went to CalArts, it also helped in building the campus. Walt Disney is a legend of the 20th century.
