Kennedy (Fitness Quotes, 2015) People nowadays have become less active; the reason for this is the fact that advancing technology has made our lives much easier. Most, if not all of us drive cars or travel via public transportation, our clothes are washed by machines; we entertain ourselves in front of a TV or computer screen, game consoles and not to mention our cell phones. Regular exercise helps reduce the risk of premature death from heart disease, overall increasing our resistance to various diseases by bolstering the immune system. Also, regular exercise improves our mood and reduces the likelihood of depression and anxiety. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that usually leave us feeling happier and more relaxed. Not to mention you will not only feel better but look better when you exercise regularly which, in turn, boosts confidence and self-esteem. You derive self-confidence both from looking great by being toned and fit and from knowing that you put in the work and effort to get there. Needless to say, when we engross in regular physical activity, we burn calories. When you burn more calories than you take in, you lose weight. We don’t need to do as much as Jamaican track and field athletes Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the important aspect of getting in shape is to make exercise an integral part of one's lifestyle. Exercising to stay as physically fit and healthy as possible should be a lifelong commitment, and is especially important to people who perform little physical work in their day-to-day lives. So instead of demotivating ourselves with saying like “everyone’s more fit than me”, “I can’t do this” and even “when will I see results? I haven’t lost a pound” always remember you are not alone, we have all been there before, “It's never too late to become what you might have been.” George
