Safeguarding adults involves a range of traditional measure taken to protect people in the most vulnerable circumstances. Safeguarding legislation and government guidance defines that safeguarding protects children’s and adults from maltreatment, ensuring that children are growing up in circumstance consistent with the provision of safe and effective care, taking action to be able to protect people to have the best outcomes, and it is everyone responsibility to take the action to promote the welfare of children’s and vulnerable adults and protect them from harm (NHS Commission Board, 2012). The signs of physical abuse may include in the following actions such as; hitting, burning or scalding, drowning or suffocating, pushing, pinching, force feeding, restraint, kicking, or other ways to cause pain other ways to cause the individual to feel pain. Giving someone harmful substances are also physical abuse. Possible signs and symptoms include bruising, bruising which looks like a hand or finger mark, burns and scalds, pain, fractures, marks on their body, not wanting to be touched, untreated injuries, injuries to body parts that are suspicious, like on thighs and back, cigarette burns, human bites, person being sad, withdrawn, suddenly starts behaving aggressively, fear towards people, sometimes loss of weight of the individual, lack of confidence and…show more content…
This session helped me to enhance my knowledge regarding safeguarding children and adults. As individuals we have the right to live freely from abuse and violence. Therefore, our actions are very important to give vulnerable people their deserving life. The mood or actions of patient or resident will depend on how support workers, care assistant, nurse or other healthcare professionals treat or care for them. Safeguarding is one way to make sure that no harm or danger is to be done on an individual and with a good use of training safeguarding and applying training in real life situations it will lessen the possible or likelihood of abuse happening. During the group discussion, I learnt that the effects of abuse will cause the individual to lose their confidence, lose their self-esteem and cause the individual to find communicating to others hard. I also gained awareness on how to recognise the signs of abuse and the best way to solve the issues regarding the different types of abuse. I also learnt that healthcare professional such as care assistants, healthcare workers and nurses portrays important role in helping individuals or people that needs care and support to make them feel still part of the society and make them live their lives to the
