3.3 POPULATION OF THE STUDY Babbie, (1996), defined Research Population as a census of all items or subjects that possess the characteristics or that have knowledge of the phenomenon, being studied. It is also the analysis of the numbers, and modifications in the numbers, of individuals. A research population is generally a large collection of individuals or objects that is the main focus of a scientific query. It is for the benefit of the population that researches are done. However, due to the large sizes of populations, researchers often cannot test every individual in the population because it is too expensive and time-consuming. This is the reason why researchers rely on sampling techniques. The population of this study consists of covenant…show more content…
gender, ethnicity, age, income, etc.) distribution of the larger population.Various sampling techniques can be used depending on the type of research to be conducted. The two major types of techniques are probability sampling and non probability sampling. The probability sampling is any sampling procedure that specifies the probability that each member of a population has of being selected. Probability sampling techniques include: simple random sampling, stratified sampling, systematic and cluster sampling while the non probability sampling is any sampling procedure that cannot specify the probability that each member of a population has of being selected. Non-probability sampling is used when probability sampling is not feasible and it includes judgment sampling, convenience and quota sampling. In this study the researcher used the random sampling technique according to…show more content…
3.9 RESEARCH INSTRUMENT A research instrument is a survey, questionnaire, test, scale, rating, or tool designed to measure the variables, characteristics, or information of interest. Research instruments are helpful tools to your research study. The structured questionnaire will be used to obtain the data needed for the study or research. Closed or Structured Questionnaires are a quantitative method of research, It is a positivist research method. It includes the low level of involvement of the researcher and high number of respondents. The structured questionnaire will be used to obtain the data needed for the study or research. The all important feature of the structured questionnaires is that it is able to contact large numbers of people quickly, easily and efficiently and it sets limit or exerts some control over the extent to which the respondent can answer questions. It can be used to explore potentially embarrassing areas more easily than other methods. 3.10 VALIDITY OF RESEARCH
