During hard situations some people still had positive attitudes. Anne Frank and Shmuel both lived in an era where they were discriminated and suffered unfairness but they still found courage and perseverance to survive, they also had positive attitudes to forget how they were living. We see a lot of perseverance in Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. In The Boy in The Striped Pajamas we also see a lot of courage. Based on the texts, one of the best ways to respond to conflict is through finding courage because this allows people to persevere and have a positive attitude. In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young girl we saw a lot of perseverance. In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas we see perseverance when Shmuel said “ I can’t, I should have eaten them when you offered them, now it’s too late (John Boyne 24). If I take them he’ll come in. Shmuel refused the chicken at first because he was scared Kotler was going to do something to him. Shmuel eat the chicken when Bruno put it in his hands. We also see a lot of perseverance in Anne Frank. One of the times we see more perseverance is when anne was trying to use Mr.Dussel’s desk. Anne said “Mr. Dussel I don’t suppose you see any point in discussing the matter anymore, but I must ask you to do so”(Anne Frank 87). Anne tried really hard to use the table; she never gave up. She talked to Mr. Dussel a lot to let her use his table because she wanted to do her stuff. Mr. Dussel taught that Anne’s work wasn’t important and he refused to let Anne use his table. Anne told Pim about her conversation with Mr. Dussel, he then went to talk to Mr. Dussel. Mr. Dussel finally let Anne use his table.
