The plains Indians lived in three different types of homes. They lived in in tepees, wigwams, and earth lodges. Since the Plains Indians migrated frequently to follow the movements of the buffalo herds, tepees were their most used houses. Teppes were very easy to take apart and put back together, in fact a whole village of plains indians could be packed up and ready to move in an hour. Tepees could hold up to 30-40 people comfortably.
