Thesis Statement: Todays society is overdependent on technology and the lies passed around verbally or on social media are destroying the human race for overall lying destroys trust in others and people see social media as a shield from danger so they feel free to say anything they want, right or wrong. Body Paragraph #1: Topic sentence: Social media shields people from the guilt of what they have done wrong. Evidence: Talking about social media, the author of the book NEED emphasizes on the fact that, "It feeds on the belief that what's on the public forum of the internet can't be all that bad...most of the time people shrug them off because it's just the internet...it's easier for members to pretend nothing bad is happening," (Charbonneau, 212). Technology is something that ultimately makes our lives easier but some people use it to the point where it's beginning to destroy our society. The book NEED by Joelle Charbonneau takes this topic very seriously. The book talks of a private website where students can interact but due to this website people are committing crimes and because of this websites secrecy they don't feel guilty. A series of articles about how a teens lies are affecting society and how lying overall is bad will also be one of my resources. It is very important to know the facts because overusing technology can cause harm to our society.
