In order to be effective in a business, you should know who you are targeting and how you can target them effectively and efficiently. Businesses must design a customer driven strategy and mix to build the right impression and to seek out the right customers. There are three main elements in designing a customer driven strategy which are market segmentation, market targeting, and positioning. Each business must identify their market segments and select one or a few of them or it could be all of the segments, this helps the company to focus on the customers who can help the company to reach a higher level in the market. Demographic segmentation consists of dividing the market into groups based on variables such as gender, age, income, religion and nationality. Psychographic segmentation consists of dividing customers into different groups based on lifestyle or personality. Behavioral segmentation consists of dividing the customers into different groups based on their knowledge and attitude to a product as us benefit sought, user status and loyalty. The marketing strategy of Nike helped them to be one of the best multinational companies in the world, the main marketing strategy of Nike is relies on commercials and promotions. For example, football is the most famous sport in middle east, therefore Nike creates many advertising about football in this region in order to success. In Bahrain we know that people are addicted to the European football, they support different European teams such Realmadrid, Barcelona, Manchester united and Bayern Munich. So, Nike store in Bahrain has created a great idea to attract local customers, they posted some pictures of Cristiano Ronaldo “ Realmadrid star”, Neymar “ Barcelona star” in their store, in order to get more customers.
