Charley, Thank you for your post. You provided an excellent overview of Dowd (2013) and Kolhatkar’s (2013) assessment of Marissa, Mayer and the challenges and bias that often are placed against leaders who are female. This issue is an important one, and I thought that you did an excellent job hitting some key points. I appreciated your comment that, “people who hold leadership positions […] should be aware of the repercussions of making comments that could be offensive to both men and women in the workforce”(Regua, 2015, para.1). This should be a “leadership 101” principle. Leaders must understand that what they say matters. It is not just an individual’s decisions that are critiqued, but also their behavior and comments as well. Individuals
