The author’s main point was at the onset of the 21st century, computational methods for determining a quantitative evaluation of fire protection continue to improve. These include the fire severity and fire resistance to determine structural fire protection requirements; fire properties of materials such as rates of heat release, fire spread, smoke developed and smoke movement; and egress course, and sprinkler and detector response.
