Domestic violence is “violent or aggressive behaviour within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner”. (Gardner). it can be in form of physical, emotional or mental.Domestic violence is also associated with the treatment of women since most of the domestic violence is agents women’s. which means it is direct abuse of human right. Statistics for fiji show “44% or more than 2 in 5 ever-partnered women have been punched, kicked, dragged, threatened, threatened with weapons or actually had a weapon used agents them.” And also “The research shows 43 women are injured,…show more content…
Some of the obvious immediate impact are Physical injuries such as cuts, bruises, fractures, Hearing and Vision problem, Miscarriage or early delivery and deaths Longer term impacts may include Depression, Fainting, Gynaecological problems, Anxiety, Post traumatic stress disorder, Alcohol and substance misuse or even Suicide. Hence domestic violence limits women’s participation in social, political and economic life. Fiji is rated 4th out of 25 nation worst domestic violence. This essay will discuss domestic violence in regards to relationship between patriarchal education which involves men being in authority over women, sexism is unfair treatment of people because of their sex; especially : unfair treatment of women, and domestic violence against women which is a result of patriarchal education and sexism. Answer will also include ethical theories of virtue ethics it looks at the virtue or moral character of the person carrying out an action, rather than the ethical duties, feminist ethics “is an approach to ethics that builds on the belief that traditionally ethical theorising has under-valued and/or under-appreciated women's”.
