Afghanistan is a country where more than half girls are married or engaged before they are 18. This essay looked at how child marriages affect the development of Afghanistan and its solutions. The root of child marriages is gender inequality, often caused by poverty, security, and traditions. Child brides are less likely to remain in school, more likely to experience domestic violence, and more likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth.
