Disadvantages Of Heat Exchanger

FUNCTION/CLASSIFICATION Heat exchangers are devices that transfer of heat from one to another. Heat only can flow from hotter to cooler fluid (Heat exchanger (general), n.d). They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration and air conditioning (Heat exchanger, 2015). They are used for transfer heating and cooling applications (Types of heat exchangers, n.d). There are some reasons for heat transfer: 1. To reduce the temperature of a hot fluid by means cooler fluid 2. To heat up a liquid by means a hotter fluid 3. To heat up a liquid while condensing a hotter gaseous fluid 4. To warmth a cooler fluid by means a hotter fluid 5. To condense a gaseous fluid by means a cooler fluid (Heat exchanger (general), n.d) Types of heat exchanger: 1. Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger…show more content…
There are many types of permanently bonded plate heat exchangers, such as dip-brazed, vacuum-brazed, and welded plate varieties (Plate heat exchangers, 2015). The surface area is large and the edges of each rectangular plate highlight an opening through which fluid can flow between plates extracting heat from the plates as it flows (Types of heat exchangers (plate heat exchanger), 2015). The fluid channels themselves alternate hot and cold fluids, meaning that heat exchangers can adequately cool as well as heat fluid (Types of heat exchangers (plate heat exchanger), 2015). They are regularly utilized as a part of refrigeration applications because plate heat exchangers have such a large surface area and regularly more efficient than shell and tube heat exchangers (Types of heat exchangers (plate heat exchanger), 2015). Plate heat exchangers also differ in the types of plates that are used. Some plates may be stamped with "chevron", dimpled or other patterns (Plate heat exchangers,
