The Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, is the most revolutionary documents in the history of United States. To many Americans, the Declaration of Independence helped America to claim independence from the British. It also made the fight for independence justified. It listed a lot of grievances from the British King George and gave the people reason to free themselves from the unjust treatment. It served as voice of reason for the colonies to go to war against Great Britain. Jefferson’s document did not help only the United States, but also many other countries globally. These are unalienable rights which cannot be given or taken away. It also mentions that if any government tries to take away these rights, it is the people’s responsibility to overthrow this government and make a new one of their choice. Similarly, the Liberian declaration of independence also attributes some rights as “natural and inalienable rights which include life, liberty, right to acquire, possess and enjoy property”1. Liberia was founded by freed slaves of the United States in 1820. An initial group on eighty-six blacks was sent there to establish a colony known as Monrovia which was named after the United States’ President, Joseph Monroe. Many freed slaves arrived after the first settlement. This movement of freed slaves to Liberia was encouraged by the American Colonization Society which was founded by Robert Finley. Ho Chi Minh was born on 19th May, 1890 at a village in central Vietnam called Hoang Tru. During that time period Vietnam was colonized by the French. He worked on a French ship in 1911 and traveled to many European countries like Great Britain and France. In 1923, he trained at Comintern, an organisation founded by Vladimir Lenin to inspire revolutions worldwide. In that same decade, he went to Southern China and assembled exiles of Vietnam to plan a revolution. In 1930, he founded Indochinese Communist Party which later became known as the Vietnamese Communist Party. Following World War II in 1945, Ho Chi Minh seized an opportunity to claim independence from French colony. On 2nd September 1945, Ho Chi Minh declared independence from the French and proclaimed Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In his declaration, he made references to the original Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson and the French’s own declaration. He claimed that Jefferson's document “[In broader sense means:] All the [people] on the earth are equal from birth, all the [people] have right to live, to be happy and free”3.
