Cultural Diversity In Health And Social Care Study

250 Words1 Page
Over the years Britain has become a multicultural society and this diversity has impacted in the delivery of health care (Salman Rawaf and Veena Bahl 1998). The Department of Health has taken an initiative over the years to fund the National Institute for Ethnic studies in Health and Social Care to find out the needs of ethnic minority groups. Reports from the survey have shown that ethnic minority groups have poorer health and find it challenging to access health services; this may be due to barriers such as language, culture, religion, education and unemployment (Lorraine Culley and Simon Dyson 2010). With all these factors taken into consideration NHS professionals are still expected to deliver person centered care, for all (Pearson, 2005).
