The “Buy Me That Too: A Kid’s Survival Guide to TV Advertising” is a video that explains “why we buy the things we buy”. In the first video, they tested products (toys) and compared it to how it was portrayed on TV. The products didn’t even meet anyone’s expectations from watching the advertisements. I liked how the video showed the ‘behind the scenes’ of the G.I. Joe Battle Copter. I learnt that these advertisements require SO MUCH effort to convince their target audience. For example, the G.I. Joe Battle Copter had a motor to keep it spinning, then some fishing line to make it look like they fly for a long time, and finally, a pole to control where the toy is moving to.
