ASPIRIN SOLUTION UTILIZATION IN PECHAY (BRASSICA PEKINENSIS L.) PRODUCTION J. T. Bersabe INTRODUCTION Aspirin has different benefits and can cure some diseases like fever, indigestion, internal hemorrhage, pain and/or inflammation of body parts, headaches, menstrual periods, arthritis, colds, toothaches, and muscle aches. It can also reduce the risk of death in people who are experiencing or who have recently experienced a heart attack (Maryland, 2014). Salicylic acid, a major component of aspirin, is compounds that attract pollinators, kill parasites, and prevent infectious diseases (Farabee, 2010). Salicylic acid (SA) is a phenolic phytohormone and is found in plants with roles in plant growth and development, photosynthesis, transpiration,…show more content…
In accordance to this, we conduct this inquiry to find out if aspirin solution can improve the rate of plant growth. Hence the main point of this study was to evaluate and observe the effect of aspirin solution in the growth of pechay plants. This study will benefit provincial farmers on making their pechay plants healthier and taller. The rationale for carrying out this research project lies in the well documented findings in the literature that most farmers are having a hard time producing healthy pechay plants. This is due to the conceptually demanding nature of the economical deprivation and ecological problems giving rise to low production of pechay plants. The aim of this research is to develop a useful remedy to help have a good harvest. It is hoped that treatment would improve the cognitive development of the plants and thus enable them to grow fast and healthy. The study is within the field of agriculture, science and…show more content…
The experimental material consists of two major components; an aspirin solution and pots of two week-old pechay plants. Preparation of Pots Each pechay plant was put together in a small pot with a moist and nutrient-rich soil ideal for planting. These pechay plants had different initial heights hence, they were heterogeneous. After putting each plot in a small pot, they were grouped into two; where one will receive the aspirin solution treatment and the other will be the controlled setup – for us to recognize all changes. Preparation of the Aspirin Solution Treatment The aspirin solution treatment (AST) was made by the following procedures. First, one aspirin tablet (Alka-Seltzer®) should be dissolved in a 1L of water and left it stationary for about 30 minutes. Then, 5mL liquid dish soap was added. Next, the solution was poured in a garden sprayer (Note: If the solution was not yet totally dissolved, wait a few minutes). After pouring the solution, the solution was sprayed on the soil and leaves of the five plants, who will receive the
