Violence Against Women, 6(5), 533. In this article Oliver examines how popular Black culture can be used to educate African Americans about domestic violence. It also discusses how to enhance awareness for domestic violence treatment, like interventions. Fix wrote her article on the findings of fourteen studies, to examine the correlation between family, community, and violence. Two patterns were seen within family and community when it came to delinquency and violence. Families that were over protective seemed to defend against negative influences and a protective community had positive outcomes against violence. Bennett, M. , & Fraser, M. (2000). Bennett’s article addresses the recent violence among African American males. In her article she discusses the absent father theory, poverty, domestic violence, community, and street codes. Bennett argues that behavior should be regulated to promote the awareness of violence over drugs, money and social standing. In the study a survey was taken to access the rates of community violence and the rate internalizing behavior. The study established how African American males have the highest exposure toward violence. Asian American females were found to have the highest rates of internalizing behaviors.
