In a perfect world, everyone that goes to college would graduate and go on to the career that they want no matter of race or gender. Not everyone graduates but does one race graduate college more than others? This essay will cover the graduation rates of the Caucasian, African American, and Asian races. First, the graduation rates of African Americans in college and from what type of schools they graduate from. African Americans graduate college at a lower rate than Caucasians and Asians. African Americans have a 45 percent completion rate in a private not-for-profit four-year college, which is lower than the Caucasian and Asian races(Completion Rates). Asian completion rates in non-profit four-year colleges is the highest of any race 75 percent which is higher than any other race by a whole eight percent(Completion Rates). Moreover, in public four-year colleges Asians have a completion rate of 65 percent and that is also the highest of any other race by at least eight percent(Completion Rates). While the number of Asians that have received a bachelor's degree has risen by a mere 0.8 percent the recipients of master’s degree has increased by 1.2 percent and their Doctorates degree recipients has increased by 1.8 percent from2000 to 2010 ( Degrees Conferred). Even Though, Asian completion rates are increased the most the enrollment increase has not grown as much as other races. Asian enrollment has increased from 728,000 in 2000 to 915,000 in 2012 it hasn't increased as much as other races. For example, African American enrollment rate has increased from around 897,000 in 1993 to 1.7 million in 2012. Caucasians have the second best completion rate with 57 percent for public four-year colleges compared to the Asians who have the best rate 65 percent and the African Americans who have the lowest rate 39 percent(Completion Rates). Also the Caucasian college enrollment has grown the most from 6.2 million in 1993 to 7.2 million in 2012(Krogstad and Fry). The enrollment gap has closed but “By comparison, just under 70 percent of white high school graduates go to college, versus 65 percent of blacks”(Casselman). Even though Caucasian enrollment has skyrocketed the recipients of bachelor's degrees has dropped by 3.6 percent master's degrees have also dropped by 6.2 percent. Also caucasians are still more likely to graduate in six years than African Americans but less than Asians. Last, the increase in attendance has increased by more than the other races but, the graduation rates have dropped significantly since
