New and more advanced technologies are being developed every single day. Some of these technologies have the ability to shape and define the way we operate on a daily basis. Advances in technology can innovate the way we do things and the way we get things done. Some of this tech is being developed in the car industry. The car industry is developing new technologies every day in the form of autonomous safety features and all sorts of gizmos and gadgets. One of the biggest developments in recent years has been the rise of self-driving car technology. Some people think themselves to be good drivers, when in reality, they only have the illusion of control. Bad drivers can eventually get their licenses taken away, but it takes more than you might think. In Ohio, one must acquire 12 points of bad driving to get their license taken away. This means that you’d have to get caught going 30 over the speed limit three times, cause multiple accidents, or commit vehicular manslaughter (Pelini). If all of the cars on the road were autonomous, bad drivers would be a thing of the past. No more road rage, no more distracted driving, no more getting cut off by soccer moms who are busy telling her kids to stop fighting and get their seat belts on. In 2015 alone, there were over half a million reported accidents, killing 146,133 people in the process. This means that 400 people die in India every single day due to car crashes. Everyday, thousands of people are injured (Wadwha). Studies show that nearly eighty percent of accidents that occur in India are faulted to the drivers (India). Driverless vehicles would drastically improve the country's situation, saving countless lives. Are these people’s jobs really worth the hundreds of thousands of lives lost every year on Indian roads?
