A token economy can be defined as a practice that helps modify behavior by encouraging desirable and discouraging undesirable behavior within a child. This is done with the use of tokens that can later be redeemed for a desired object or privilege. When a child is well behaved they are presented with these tokens. The common method as suggested by the Health Central website is, “In order for a token economy to be most effective, parents must choose a few behaviors to target.” It goes on to specify that in order for this program to succeed at the beginning a parent must choose one or two behaviors to modify. When a child achieves a desired behavior, as previously mentioned they are awarded with tokens. These tokens consist of; physical tokens
