Registered Nursing Registered nurses comprise one of the largest segments of the U.S. workforce as a whole with more than 3.1 million nurses nationwide and are among the highest paying large occupation (bls.gov). Nursing has been around for centuries. Since the beginning of time, there has always been that person who sided with the healer or doctor to help perform a medical task. Nurses can help do anything from performing the simplest task of helping someone dress their self, to assisting a doctor through surgery. Nursing is the ideal job for me because the pay is great, you can work anywhere you want in whatever wing you want, and the feeling it brings people. The first reason for being a nurse is the pay is great. Depending on your location, nursing pay can range from 66,220-92,320 plus dollars a year. The median salary is 66,220 a year here in Arkansas. Hourly median pay is around twenty-four dollars. The best paying nurses salary can very around 92,320 dollars a year and can average up to fifty dollars or more an hour. With a nursing license, you will always have a job. You can be a nurse in any state you want with a little more certifications, such as working here in Arkansas or maybe even Alaska. You can even be a traveling nurse where you can travel all over the states. If you get bored in a specific wing you can always go somewhere else. You do not life your shifts? You can always change them from day, night to even working a double shift. Most nurses like working the night shift because you never know what is going to come through those doors. You can also choose to either work in ICU, ER, or even Labor and Delivery. If you do not want to work in a hospital, try a doctor’s office. No matter where a nurse will go, every day there will always be some sort of
