The women's rights movements, like most controversial topics, attracted a broad spectrum of opinions on how to advance their goals. Some women simply strived for equal rights, whereas others were not afraid to use violence. The Feminist movement would, however, find its root and grow in Western countries. Sadly, the end results would be questionable. Feminism began out of a desire for equality of the sexes. There was a difference, in how to approach this goal. Feminists in were split between increasing protections for women in the home and a larger goal of social change. The women of the day would form unions of their own to advance their agendas.
