The future is not something that just happens, it is something that is created. Today, a life without technology would be unimaginable, as it is part of every aspect of human society. Through the decades, a rapid technological progress brought the robots into existence. Robots are computer-controlled systems that are programmed to perform certain tasks. These smart and complex machines are evolving constantly, easily surpassing human’s limited abilities. They have begun to walk and talk like humans, performing a variety of tasks that the world can benefit from. It is a well-known fact that the human brain does not have the ability to compete with a computer in calculating things, and thus, robotics and artificial intelligence are expected to be involved more and more in daily life in near future. Although many people are amazed by the wide use of mechanical technology, this will not change anytime soon. They can work continuously without getting tired or bored, they will never suffer an injury, and can perform error free (Ford 2). Another advantage over humans is that their efficiency as well as the decision making can’t be influenced by emotional factors. This larger usability leads to more possible users, increased production, while maintaining low costs (Singer). For those reasons, jobs may not likely increase proportionally over the next decades, as many employment opportunities may be downsized. Even though automation can make human lives easier and fulfilling, it can also make the future more challenging, and perhaps, a little scary.
