ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE What is artificial intelligence (A.I)? Do we need it? How far away are we from it? I will be answering these questions in this paper. We will look at the pros and cons of having this technology in our hands and ask other questions along the way. First question, What is artificial intelligence? Or rather, what is the theory of Artificial Intelligence? The theory of artificial intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. When I read this I was terrified, and it should, because human nature has proven itself over history one thing: we don't like what we don't understand. If we can't understand what a robot would think, Imagine what we would do in that situation, it would not look good for humanity. However on the other end of the spectrum, Tim Urban explained that A.I. could be the key to Immortality as well. I could see it as the video game SOMA has explained it, spoiler alert, where you take the scan of a human brain and turn it, essentially into a file to be placed into the body of a robot. However, Soma explains, that this would lead to the problem of have multiple versions of you at the same time. One who would be left to die and one to live forever.
